Graduate students in the dual degree program complete both the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the Master of Arts in School Counseling. They develop the foundational knowledge and skills to provide effective clinical services and K-12 services to a variety of diverse populations. As a program accredited by the (CACREP), our students can look forward to coursework and field experiences that meet the highest training standards of the counseling profession. Successful graduates of our program are eligible for initial licensure as counselors in Kentucky, Ohio, and a number of additional states.
A dual degree in counseling together with the requisite post-master’s experience and licensure, allows one to provide counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults in community, agency, non-profit, school, and clinical settings. One of the benefits of a degree in clinical mental health counseling is that graduates are not only equipped to help individuals navigate normal life challenges (e.g., bereavement, relationship problems), but also help those who are struggling with more severe interpersonal and mental health difficulties (e.g., major depression disorder, social anxiety disorder).
